A new way of fixing crowded teeth by treating the face, orthotropics, was developed to help guide the healthy growth of the upper and lower jaws. Guiding the development of the jaws forward can provide enough space for all the adult teeth while improving facial balance and appearance. Dr. Jeff Kwong believes orthodontics works best for children ages 4-9 as their jaw can easily be corrected. But orthotropic treatment may be helpful for all ages.

Bonding & Sealants

Pits and grooves on chewing surfaces can trap food that’s hard to remove with regular brushing. A sealant is a strong, tooth-colored material designed to bond to tooth enamel. Sealants are painted onto the tooth surface to seal these pits and grooves and protect against decay. We recommend applying sealants to children’s teeth once their permanent back teeth are in place.

Extraction (Tooth Removal)

Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in situations when the tooth is beyond repair. Dr. Fridgen and Dr. Ligh will never put your child through this procedure unless absolutely necessary. Dr. Fridgen will inform you if he thinks that there is no other treatment that can save the tooth.

Crowns (Caps)

Dr. Fridgen uses a crown (often called a cap) to cover the tooth and restore it to its original share and size. Decay is removed and cleaned from the tooth and a preformed crown is placed over the tooth. This means that baby crowns can be placed in a single visit, which is much easier on your little one than the two or more visits you would experience as an adult.
